In addition to the Harley Riders who came along there was a fashion show of Harley’s new clothing range. All agreed that the Snow Globe was a fantastic addition to showcase one of Harley’s prestigious machines and passers by were pulling in to see what was going on. To experience our Giant Snow Globe for yourself, come along to Surrey Quays Shopping Centre in Rotherhithe, Central London from Saturday the 10th of December to Friday the 23rd of December everyday from 12:00-15:00 and 16:00-19:00 (Sundays 11:00-17:00). Entry is free and each group receive a free 8x6inch Photograph as a memento of their visit.

Mark and our Snow Man

We have bookings for the two weeks leading up to Christmas so that families can visit and experience what it is like to be inside one of our globes. The globes are also available for bookings at corporate events, private functions and even the ultimate wedding experience! What’s more, the interior of the Snow Globe is entirely customisable! We have the Snow Globes designed in a winter wonderland theme for the November to February period, but every prop and even the large rear panels can be changed to suit our clients’ needs. Fancy a football theme for a sporting event or a Surfs Up Beach scene in the summer? No worries – we can have the props designed specifically for you. All the props are removable and interchangeable.

The Snow Globe in the Sun

The Snow Globe is accessible from the rear through an air lock slot that opens out as a door. Once inside, you can ride on the inflatable sleigh, bop about with the snowman and chase around the central Christmas tree. If that was not enough, then we have more…the entire floor is covered with fake snow to play in! Just say the magic words and before you know it, snow comes down from the above to simulate real snowfall. Friends and family can join in too – up to four people can enter at once. Other people will marvel as they gaze from the outside and see a Giant Snow Globe with its very own winter scene come to life.

For other events, we can remove props so that your own business products can be placed inside. Set up your concession stand inside our globe, display your latest and freshest products or even have a pop group or favourite band play! The options are endless.

Beamsley Beacon, Jan 2011, From the field beyond the 12th Fairway at Bracken Ghyll GC.

This is my favourite image of the insert. I walked the length of the fields stretching from the Wind Pylon to the road at the bottom of the Valley leading to Bolton Abbey looking for the right lead in to this vista. I was worried that the plain field wouldn’t act as an interesting enough foreground until finally the light came just right. The trees behind me cast long shadows on the slope as I looked towards the east in an early winter sunset. I hid my own shadow in one of the trees and took 3 exposures on my tripod. I combined these to get the perfect balance between a moody sky and now vibrant foreground. Beamsley perhaps not quite as majestic as it could be until I find a better viewpoint but I am very happy with the composition and tonal range.

This was from a slightly different viewpoint than the above image and obviously with a different cloud formation – they were moving fairly quickly that day. There were some power lines stopping me get my preferred viewpoint but I feel that with the clouds and human intervention (dry stone walling and farmland) mean that they aren’t enough of a distraction to remove. The colour version isn’t quite as dramatic for me and the sky is certainly preferable in the first shot.

Beamsley Beacon From Silsden Road

This was a separate trip out late on in January to look for another vista of Beamsley Beacon. The drive over from Silsden to Addingham certainly has a spectacular view, however the road and other man made construction makes it difficult to get a good shot. I liked this stone tower so decided to use it for my first shot.

Plane Trails

I drove to several different spots and walked a god few miles backwards and forwards looking for the best viewpoint. I was bluffed out, came to false summits, blocked by sheep and got a bit deflated. This nice shot of the plane trails against a deep blue sky eased the pain a little!

Beamsley Beacon, Jan 2011

This was my last attempt and best location that day of the shot. The trouble was finding a good lead in to the image. Beamsley looked tiny since I was still half way up the opposite valley and looking across at it rather than straight up. The shadows cast by a small dip and a bare tree gave me my best opportunity. I needed less sky though since it was just clear blue and it wasn’t right for a landscape shot – I had to go portrait and pre-visualised a square. I don’t like to crop in post production since I believe landscape shots should be made with vision and decision at the time. However in this instance I only had a 35mm format so had to use what was there. It’s not the greatest shot but I look forward to finding the next location.

Pen-y-Ghent Summit, Feb 2011

Here are the iPhone shots…the quality of the thing is rubbish to say it’s such an expensive phone. Having said that…it is a phone. I had to apply several layers – gaussian blur to the sky to cut out the noise and an unsharp mask to the grass to make it stand out a bit more. The saturation of colours was pretty good though.

My Favourite of the Pen-y-Ghent shots simply because it’s such a beautiful silhouette. Again there’s layers involved because of the noise created by low light and blue sky. Shame I didn’t have the real deal with me. Honest iPhones are great…they just have rubbish cameras!

Fire

So this was a great exposure of the flames of a camp fire we lit in the Northern Territories in Australia. We had just been to Uluru that day and seen The Rock as it is often simply called. We took to using our fires to keep us contented in the evenings when light was short and the desert temperature dropped down to single figures. We were so into the camping lifestyle that we ditched the stove and cooked on the open fire for a couple of weeks, it felt so fulfilling and humbling to become a little closer to nature. The final Photograph is a montage of 3 images – the lower area was quite dark so I simple introduced the embers from 2 other exposures taken at the same time from slightly different angles. For this reason I must point out that it is digital art using photography, not straight photography.

Dawn at Uluru

Uluru looked on fire as the sun rose to touch the red rock. The moon was still high in the sky as it began to set over in the South West above Uluru.

Lilydale Lake, Vic

The sky was just unreal at sunset at Lilydale Lake near Melbourne in Victoria, Australia. I couldn’t get the reflection I wanted in the lake because of the conditions – the wind was making it too rough. I copied and flipped the sky to create a false reflection in Photoshop and as such I must state that this too is digital art using photography. The colours really were that vivid and the top half of the image is a faithful representation. The lower half simply adds to the compositional value of the image.
